Abstract:Based on the 2019 second-class forest resource survey data of Tiangongshan Forest Farm in Lixian County, Hunan Province, this study estimated the biomass, carbon storage and annual carbon sequestration of the main tree species (groups) and age groups in the forest farm using the biomass-volume conversion model combined the carbon content coefficients, as well as growth rates of different tree species. The results showed that the total carbon storage of the forest farm’s tree stands was 23 495.3 t,with significant differences among different tree species, in the order of broad-leaved trees(9 740.5 t)> Masson pine (7 131.3 t)> Chinese fir (6 085.6 t)> foreign pine(476.0 t)> cypress (62.1 t). In terms of age group distribution, the carbon storage was mainly in the middle-aged forest, accounting for 60.0%. The total annual carbon sequestration of the forest farm’s tree stands was 1 746.8 t ? a?1,with the middle-aged forest contributing the most, 1 063.4 t ? a?1, accounting for 60.9%. Masson pine,Chinese fir and broad-leaved trees were the main carbon sequestration tree species, accounting for 97.9% of the total carbon sequestration. The carbon sequestration capacity of the forest farm was mainly composed of middle-aged forests and broad-leaved trees, and the overall forest stand was in the middle and young age stage, with huge potential for future carbon sink improvement.
