Ecological public forests serve as vital carriers for safeguarding ecological security and maintaining regional ecological balance. Their health directly impacts soil and water conservation, biodiversity protection, and climate regulation. Located in eastern Hubei Province, Wuxue City possesses abundant ecological public forest resources, forming a crucial component of the regional ecological security barrier. This paper focuses on the management and protection of ecological public welfare forests in Wuxue City. Through an in-depth analysis of their current status, it proposes countermeasures such as optimizing compensation mechanisms, strengthening financial guarantees, implementing appropriate management practices, and enhancing management and protection capabilities. These measures aim to address existing issues including insufficient funding, difficulties in enforcement, an incomplete management system, and inadequate utilization of forest resources. The study provides theoretical foundations and practical references for improving the quality of ecological public welfare forest management and protection in Wuxue City.
