This article reviews the development history, research progress, and ecological benefits of roof greening. Select 8 garden style roof greening cases for on-site investigation, recording their roof design, plant species selection, green matrix, maintenance methods, and other related content.A survey shows that garden style roof greening in Wuhan are mainly concentrated on the roofs of residential, office, and commercial areas, with 76 plant species belonging to 33 families and 50 genera. There are problems such as a lack of plant variety diversity, a lack of unified planning and design, and extensive management. At the same time, propose suggestions for roof space design, plant selection, and standardized management and maintenance in response to current issues.
