Abstract:This study evaluated the growth performance and adaptability of 24 European rose varieties through an introduction trial in the Western Hubei Region, aiming to select high-quality rose varieties suitable for the local climate conditions. A randomized block design was employed, and data were collected over one year on various indicators, including survival rate, pest and disease resistance, flowering frequency, single flower duration, flower diameter, branch number, heat resistance, and cold resistance. The Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and Weighted Sum Method were used for comprehensive evaluation of each variety. The results showed that the varieties: Boscobel:, Mannheim:, and Paste11a: performed excellently in terms of survival rate and pest and disease resistance, making them suitable for large-scale promotion in the Western Hubei Region. However, the varieties: Strawberry Hill: and: Lavender Garland: exhibited weaker pest and disease resistance and adaptability, and should be planted under specific conditions. This study provides a scientific basis for the selection of European rose varieties in the Western Hubei Region.
