Abstract:Taking the artificial background forest of Fairylake BotanicalGarden as research obiect, the evaluation model on the quality of background forest form was established by AHP. Complemented bylandscape visibility analysis using ArcGIS, it proposes a precise afforestation renovation plan. The results indicated that the background forests, influenced by past anthropocentric activities, were predominantly artificialsecondary forests dominated by South Asian tropicalevergreen broad leaf forests and mixed coniferous-broadleafforests.The overallforest stand quality was subpar, characterized by low biodiversity and fragile community structures, which was in congruent with the garden's designated functionaland aesthetic attributes . Based on the comprehensive evaluation, six tailored afforestation strategies including afforestation on barren land, selective thinning, under story planting, orchard inter cropping, supplementary planting, and conservation through naturalgrowth have been implemented to achieve a precise micro-renovation of the artificialbackground forests. These measures have significantly enhanced the botanicalgarden's ecological functionality and scenic appeal, fulfilling the dualroles of a scenic and ecologically vibrant botanicalgarden. Moreover, this research furnishes a valuable empiricalreference for forest stand revitalization and ecological management in urban botanicalgardens, emphasizing a restoration approach that balances scientific theory with practicalimplementation.
