In order to evaluate the quality of major coniferous timber forests in Hubei Province,based on the 2019 foresresource planning and design survey data,3 criteria and 12 indicators were selected,and the principal component analysismethod was used to construct a forest quality evaluation index system. The results showed that the important influencingfactors were stand productivity and stand stability. "The relatively important influencing factors in the indicator layer were10 indicators: diameter at breast height index, tree height index, volume index, soil type, soil thickness, age group, canopyclosure,suitable habitat area, total vegetation coverage and community structure;, The quality score of the small class foresstand was 0. 134 4~0.757 4,and the proportion of poor, medium,and excellent small clas areas was 5.21%,80.43% ,and14. 36% , respectively. The quality of the main coniferous timber forest stands in Hubei Province was mainly moderate.with significant room for improvement.
