Abstract: Through investigating and analyzing the wild germplasm resources of Idesia polycarpa in different distribution areas in Hubei, comparing its growth, fruit, yield, oil content and other main economic characteristics, it was found that the wild resources of I. polycarpa were rich in variation. Using principal component analysis to analyze all wild species, it was found that the I. polycarpa in southwestern Hubei had excellent performance and great economic potential.The oil content of I. polycarpa in other areas had certain advantages compared with the southwest part of Hubei. Therefore, artificial hybridization could be used to aggregate the dominant traits to develop and expand the use of I. polycarpa, improve the economic value of I. polycarpa in Bureau and promote the healthy and rapid development of I. polycarpa as a woody oil.
