Abstract:In order to study the effects of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium nutrition on leaf color retention and growth of the color-leaf tree species introduced from South China, the 1-year-old cuttings of the color-leaf tree species—*Ligustrum obtusifolium* ‘Jinye’ were selected to count the number of plants with normal golden leaf color, and the orthogonal experiment of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium 3 factors and 3 levels of fertilization was carried out. The results showed that: about 95% of the cuttings could retain the golden leaf color normally and less than 1% of the cuttings returned to green; the control of the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer was conducive to the leaf color retention and the reduction of flowering rate; when the amount of phosphorus fertilizer was increased, the plant height and crown width would be negatively affected. In order to ensure the growth of new shoots, the optimal nitrogen concentration was 9.2 g/plant, the optimal phosphorus concentration was 3.2 g/plant, the optimal potassium concentration was 2.2 g/plant, and the amount of nitrogen fertilizer could be appropriately increased under the condition of stable phosphorus and potassium fertilizer application rate.
