Through the survival rate and growth after three years investigation and analysis, the different family's early performance was compared and superior families were selected preliminary in Larix kaempferi family experimental forest. The results showed that the average survival rate was 78.22% and growth were extremely significant differences between families. The best family of the seed orchard in survival rate and growth was no.246, next was no.24, 299, 240 respectively. The growth of the seed orchard family was slightly better than that of seed, but the difference is small. A further comparison will be needed after the stand grew up.
