The selection of superior cypress funebris in natural and artificial forests of main producing areas of funebris in Hubei Province was studied by comparing five dominant trees. With DBH, tree height and volume as the main indicators and combined with the evaluation of shape and quality, 123 excellent individual plants of different ages were selected by the corresponding statistical analysis method. Through analysis, the average DBH and height of the selected superior trees were more than17% of the five superior trees. The average volume of superior trees is more than100% of the five superior trees. Through investigation and selection of cypress resources, excellent tree resources with wide adaptability, strong stress resistance, local characteristics and outstanding characteristics are collected, and high value of exploitation and utilization is exploited.
