Abstract:The test was study the effects of nitrogen on dry matter accumulation and protective enzyme activity of cutting seedlings of Populus tomentosa, it was want to provide theoretical basis for scientific and rational application of nitrogen fertilizer as base fertilizer of cuttage propagation. The test was conducted under field conditions, and that set 4 treatment which nitrogen fertilizer application amount by 0(control, N1),9(N2),18(N3),27 g/plant(N4), repeat three times. The results show that: the root, branch, leaf and total dry matter of N3 treatment was higher than control by 51.02%, 40.41%, 84.77% and 55.82%, there was no significant difference between N4 and N3; from May to September, the SOD activity of N3 was higher than N2 by 11.91%,8.23%,9.75%,5.40% and 7.10%, there was no significant difference between N4 and N2 in June and August; the POD activity of N3 was higher than N2 by12.75%,18.46%,8.08%,11.25% and 14.00%, N2 was significantly higher than control when in May to August; the CAT activity of N3 was higher than control by 39.73%,56.45%,27.41%,39.90% and 47.09%, N2 and N4 were significantly higher than the control. According to the comprehensive analysis, the suitable amount of nitrogen fertilizer used as base fertilizer in seedling raising of Populus tomentosa is 18 g/plant.
