This paper expounded the importance and necessity of building a longterm forestry research base in Hubei Province， and defied the overall goals and basic principles for the construction of the base， and layed out the contents of the base construction rationally， and clarified the key scientific research tasks of the base. The strategy and measures were putted forward for the construction of the longterm forestry research base in Hubei， and the operating mechanism and supporting measures of the base were fully discussed in order to provide reference basis for the construction of the longterm forestry research base in Hubei.
