From 2015 to 2017， a survey was conducted on the resources of Nanmu tree species in Yichang. The results of the survey showed that Yichang used to collectively refer to the genus Phoebe in the family Polygonaceae， the genus Machilus， and some tree species of the genus Beilschmiedia and the genus Lindera as “Nanmu”. 17 species have been found. According to the origin of 6 kinds of local， introduced 11 kinds; According to the genus， there are 6 species of Phoebe， 9 species of Machilus， 1 species of Beilschmiedia， and 1 species of Lindera. Due to human felling and habitat destruction， coupled with the low reproduction rate， the natural resources of Nanmu tree species are nearly exhausted， and some Nanmu tree species have been successfully introduced and cultivated， and protection and development work need to be further strengthened.
