Abstract:Studies has been carried out to analynize the characteristics of rhizomes and fine roots in Pleioblastus amarus natural stand located in Chongyang, and the result showed that both rhizomes and fine roots of Pleioblastus amarus were mainly distributed in 0~20 cm soil layer, and 2 a to 3 a rhizomes were main components. Both age and soil layer had no significant effect on rhizomes diameter and internode length. Many strong buds and sprouting buds were on 2 a and 3 a rhizomes, and dead buds were on old age rhizomes. There were great differences in fine root biomass, fine root diameter, fine root length and fine root specific root length(SRL) among root orders. Root order, soil depth and season affected fine root biomass, fine root diameter, fine root length and SRL.
