The Castanea mollissirma‘Jinyou 2 hao’is a new chestnut variety selected and bred out through seedling selection.The nuts are reddish-brown,bright,beautiful and big.The average weight is 17.68 g.The pulp of nut is faint yellow-colored,waxy and sweet flavor.The quality of fresh nut is superior,containing 31.4%starch,6.09%sugar,4.10%protein,and 1.26%fat.Fruits mature at middle ten days of September,and have long storage life.The nuts are suitable for processing,and the broken rate of the nuts is below7%when processed to cans or frozen kernel.Particularly,the variety has the characters of early-bearing,high-yield and strong stress-resistance.
