The structure of land area, forest resource and quality of forest resources were analyzed based on the forest resource inventory data of Taizi Mountain Forest management bureau in two periods including 1999, 2009 and 2006. The results showed that the total forest area, forest land area and nursery area increased, and area of other land types decreased; Sapling forest area increased, but the area of middle age forest and near-mature stand decreased, the proportion of near-mature stand was low and the stand age structure was improper; the area of timber forest decreased while ecological forest increased; the quality of forest resources increased slowly and was above the average level of Hubei province but still lower than the national average level. The corresponding measures were put forward in order to adjust forestry structure and achieve sustainable development of forestry.
