Abstracts:The age of ancient trees is an important basis for identification of their grade. Different methods demand different application conditions. Based on the field investigation and the literature, the authors proposed five identification methods of the age of ancient trees and analyzed the applicability, procedures, and precautions of these methods. Finally，the advantages and disadvantages of these methods were compared,providing the reference for the classification and protection measures in Hubei province.
