From the ecological security of meaning, take the Three Gorges reservoir area as the example, established the regional ecological security evaluation system, which including the climate conditions, the forest category structure, the level of socio-economic development, land use, ecological and environmental conditions,and has carried on the quantitative evaluation. The results show that the area's ecological security is at the relatively stable state, in the four (district) counties, Yiling is better overall at the ecological security, Xingshan and Badong Counties are in general.At the aspects of water and soil conservation, forest category structure, land use, there are certain ecological security problems, scientific reasonable measures should be taken to improve the safety of the Three Gorges reservoir area in western Hubei,constructing the safety ecosystem,protecting the ecological security,and achieving sustainable development in the region.
