In order to select poplar varieties that is not only high - yield and fast - growth but also resistant to disease and insect pest so as to meet the requirement for construction of green channel and short - cycle forest for industrial raw material, the authors have screened out and introduced Anti - pest poplar No. 12, Shanha poplar, Lushan poplar, Canada poplar No. 13, Canada poplar No. 14 and Evergreen poplar and made a contrast test in seedling stage together with Zhongjia No. 8, they also have carried on comprehensive analysis on coppice status, insect injury status, preservation percent of seedling, average seedling height, average seedling diameter and average seedling weight etc. Zhongjia No. 8 has obvious superority over all other varieties , Shanha poplar, Lushan poplar, Canada No. 13 and No. 14 have better performance, but Evergreen poplar and Anti-pest poplar No. 12 has poorer performance.
